Free Summer Food Program for Oswego County Children

OCO Summer Food Service Program Providing Free Meals for Oswego County Children

Bridget Dolbear, Program Services Coordinator for Oswego County Opportunities, Inc. Nutrition Services, has announced that OCO is participating in the Summer Food Service Program again this year.

Each year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with local organizations like OCO to provide free meals to children when school is out for the summer. Funded thru the New York State Education Department, the Summer Food Service Program provides free meals to all children 18 years and under.

Meals will be available at the following sites and times. Orders for meals are placed the day fore you attend.

“We are happy to be able to offer the Summer Food Service Program. I encourage families to participate in the program and remember that hunger doesn’t take a vacation,” said Dolbear.

Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. We are excited to announce that we have NEW summer hours! The office will be extending these hours until October 1st 2018! Please call the office to make an appointment. 

The office will be open 7:30am - 5:00pm M-F

Saturday will remain the same : 8:30am-12:00pm for emergency same day sick appointments.

Trumenba Vaccine Now Available!

Our office is now offering an additional vaccine, Trumenba. This vaccine protects your child against Meningitis B. This should be administered at age 16 years of age and a second dose given 6 months after the first. Please call our office (315) 598-6785 to set up an appointment or let your pediatrician know at your child(ren)'s physical.

Movies In The Park

Oswego County FCU Presents ‘Movies In The Park’ In Oswego, Fulton and Mexico

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego County Federal Credit Union will again sponsor free open-air movies in the park this summer in Oswego, Fulton and Mexico.

“At all locations, we provide entertainment that starts at 7 p.m., followed by the movie starting at dark,” Bill Carhart, OCFCU CEO, said. “We also provide free pizza, face painting, and arts and crafts.”

The first movie, on June 28th ( due to the rain 6/27 date was cancelled) at Oswego’s Washington Square Park, will be Disney-Pixar’s ‘Coco (PG).

The Oswego Bookmobile will also be there that evening.

A second Oswego movie, Disney’s Moana (PG), is scheduled for August 22, also in Washington Square Park.

“We will also be presenting ‘Moana’ on July 18 in Fulton’s Voorhees Park. In Mexico, we’ll be showing ‘Despicable Me 3’ (PG) on Aug. 15 in Mexico Community Park,” Carhart said. “The listing of movies, dates and locations is also on OCFCU’s Facebook page under Oswego County Federal Credit Union.”

Its time for the Oswego BookMobile to set out on it's adventure yet again!

The Oswego Bookmobile drives to areas with the highest concentration of children in Oswego City, Town of Oswego, and Scriba during summer vacation.  At each stop, dedicated literacy specialists help children select books to own and excite them about reading.  Every week features a different theme with related books, hands-on activities, give-aways, and read-alouds. 

**Also a free new book & snack are provided at each visit to the Oswego BookMobile to each child**

 

Movie Nights are at the East Park in Oswego as follows:

June 27th: Coco

August 22nd: Moana

(Movies start at dusk - about 8:30pm or 9:00pm)
